The Bitzaro Grande is on the outskirts of Kalamaki, just 5 minutes’ walk into town and double that to the soft-sand beach. Keep an eye out for loggerhead turtles - the sands are their nesting turf.

Boasting some of the prettiest grounds in Zante, this hotel was made for lazy days by the pool. The pool area takes centre stage here. The pool, which is one of the biggest in the area, runs through the middle of the grounds. It’s got a feature waterfall and a whirlpool bath. The surrounding terrace and gardens are sprinkled with loungers and hammocks. There's a little pool for kids, plus a bar dishing out drinks and snacks. Food-wise, you can refuel at the pick-and-choose buffet restaurant or sit down for a set menu of Greek specialities at Il Giardino restaurant.
