A fabulous 11-night tour with 3 nights spent in vibrant Cape Town, allowing plenty of time to enjoy some of the wonderful excursions as well as the V&A Waterfront, the nightlife and the many restaurants.

Six nights self-driving through the Garden Route gives you the freedom to stop where and when you want to, spending as little or as much time as you wish in the places you visit. A couple of days in the Winelands will give you time to explore some of the wine estates and perhaps enjoy a little wine tasting.

The tour finishes with a flourish with two nights on safari at the Eastern Cape, for some wonderful wildlife spotting.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Cape Town

Fly overnight to Cape Town.

Days 2-4 - Cape Town

Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Spend 3 nights at leisure, exploring this vibrant city. A variety of pre-bookable excursions available.

Overnight: Southern Sun Waterfront, Cape Town

Meals: Breakfast

Day 5 - Winelands, Franschhoek

Collect your hire car from downtown Cape Town Avis depot (on request, car hire can be dropped to your hotel, additional charges apply, to be settled locally).

Depart for the Winelands region and to the quaint town of Franschhoek. Your stay here is for 2 nights. There is lots to explore in this region at your own pace, including wine tasting at the numerous wine estates in the region. Hop on the wine tram for a day or take a stroll down the high street to explore the independent stores and enjoy the wonderful cuisine available at the local restaurants.

Day 6 - Winelands, Franschhoek

A further day to explore the Winelands Region.

Day 7 - Garden Route, Oudtshoorn

Depart after breakfast and commence your drive along the Garden Route, stopping along the way until you reach the 'feather capital of the world', Oudtshoorn, famous for its huge ostrich industry.

Things to do around Oudtshoorn: Visit an ostrich farm for an informative tour or explore the fascinating and beautiful Cango Caves, which are Africa's largest show cave system. Also worth a visit is the Cango Wildlife Ranch, an endangered species special breeding facility and the oldest and largest cheetah contact centre.

Day 8 - Garden Route, Plettenberg Bay

Continue along to Plettenberg Bay, locally known as "Plet", a stunning seaside town with beautiful sandy beaches with a lively atmosphere. You're based here for 2 nights to explore the region.

Things to do around Plettenberg Bay: Explore the town and take a walk along one of its many popular beaches, visit the local Old Nick Village and browse the eclectic collection of shops, hike at Robberg Nature Reserve, enjoy wine tasting at a local estate or visit nearby Knysna for the day.

Day 9 - Garden Route, Plettenberg Bay

A further full day to explore the region around Plettenberg Bay.

Day 10 - Garden Route, Tsitsikamma

Depart for the Tsitsikamma which encompasses a marine reserve, deep gorges and local vegetation like the Big Tree, a towering yellowwood.

Things to do around here : Visit Tsitsikamma National Park and hike to Storms River Mouth or the Waterfall, take a drive down Natures Valley, hire mountain bikes or join a canopy tour.

Days 11-12 - Eastern Cape Safari

After breakfast, continue to the Eastern Cape safari region and to your chosen accommodation. Leave the car at the accommodation and enjoy game viewing by the lodge's vehicle.

Overnight: Amakhala Woodbury Tented Camp. Your stay here is for 2 nights inclusive of all meals and all game activities.

Day 13 - Depart

Drive to Port Elizabeth and drop of the hire car at the airport. Connect to your flight to the UK or continue with your onward arrangements.
