This 14-day self drive will take you on a tour of Alberta starting in the heart of Bow Valley in Canmore, before taking you on a wondrous journey through the Rockies. With a stop at Lake Louise, one of the most photographed lakes in Canada, and the Athabasca Glacier, where we highly recommend a ride on the ice explorer, this trip will let leave you completely in awe of just how beautiful nature can be.
Day 1 UK - Calgary - Canmore
Fly from the UK to Calgary. Pick up your car hire and make your way to Stone Ridge Mountain Resort in Canmore.
Day 2 Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary
During your visit to the Wolfdog Sanctuary you will gain a better understanding about wild wolves and their importance in the natural environment while also seeing first hand wolf behaviour through the wolfdogs at the sanctuary. You will have plenty of photo opportunities and ample time to speak with the sanctuary guardian who will answer all your questions. This exclusive tour has limited availability and a maximum of 8 participants per tour to ensure the wolfdogs stay inquisitive and close during your visit. Day 3 Canmore to Lake Louise
Today travel to iconic Lake Louise for an overnight stay at the Post Hotel, a Relais & Chateaux property. Use the hotel as a base for visiting nearby Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.
Day 4 Lake Louise to Jasper
Travel the awe inspiring Icefield Parkway from Lake Louise to Jasper. Enjoy the wildlife, pristine lakes, and breathtaking mountain peaks along the world famous Icefields Parkway. Visit the natural wonder of the Columbia Icefield - one of the largest expanses of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. Step onboard an Ice Explorer for an interpretive adventure onto the Athabasca Glacier. At the Glacier Skywalk, enjoy the unobstructed view on a glass-floored observation platform extending 30 metres out over the Sunwapta Valley. (included)
Day 5 Maligne Lake & guided Walk
This morning we have included one of our best selling tours - Maligne Lake & guided Walk. This amazing tour is a guided interpretive drive up the Maligne Valley. Our exploration will include a stop at Maligne Canyon for a gentle guided walk to the first two bridges above the gorge, a short stop at the "disappearing" Medicine Lake, and finally Maligne Lake. At this picturesque gem of the Canadian Rockies enjoy a guided walk along the Mary Schaffer Loop (3.2km return). Duration 5 - 6 hours
Day 6 Explore Jasper
Day at leisure to enjoy Jasper, use your hire car to explore the Maligne Valley area.
Day 7 Jasper to Banff
Drive from Jasper to Banff today for your 3 night stay at the Banff Aspen Lodge.
Day 8 Banff Evening Wildlife Safari
Day at leisure to take in Banff's many attractions and sights. This evening join the Evening WIldlife Tour, this sightseeing and wildlife seeking tour travels through a variety of landscapes giving you the best chance to observe animals in their natural environment. Learn what is threatening wildlife today and how the National Parks strive to protect animals and their habitat. You will leave the Safari with a greater understanding of the land and animals that we see on 95% of our tours.

Day 10 Banff to Kananaskis
Short drive from Banff to Kananaskis for your 2 night stay at the Mount Kidd Manor, situated at the base of the mountain.

Spend today at your leisure in Kananaskis.
Day 12 Kananaskis to Calgary
Drive from Kananaskis to Calgary for your 2-night stay and drop your hire car off at the downtown branch.
Day 13 Calgary Sightseeing
Spend today at your leisure taking in this terrific city. Why not take a trip up the Calgary Tower for a birds eye view over the city, visit Heritage Park.
