The Iberostar Tainos looks the spitting image of a Caribbean village, with low-rise buildings cosied up to palm trees. It’s secured a spot by the sand on Varadero’s strip. It’s also just five minutes’ drive to Varahicacos Ecological Reserve, where you’ve got nature trails and a cave full of pre-Colombian paintings.
The hotel has got a lagoon-like pool tucked within the greenery. As for wining and dining, there are five bars and three restaurants – including a Japanese restaurant with a teppanyaki table, and a thatched-roof grill restaurant. During the day, bars by the pool and beach look after thirsty sunbathers. And after dark, there’s the lobby lounge, an al fresco bar and a theatre.
